This project entailed creating an iconic wine country image for the holidays. An image that would evoke the alchemy of wine making on an epic scale worth of the Kendall Jackson multi-label library and their extensive holdings without becoming ostentatious. Of course, we had no budget, so photographer Mike Regnier, digital artist Daniel Vaughn and myself set out to scout the 1200 acre KJ Sonoma Estate armed with a couple of portable generators, about 1,000 twinkle lights and not enough rain gear. No cherry picker, no grips. Did I mention rain? After a few hundred pre-dawns and into-the-sunset shots, we commenced composing and layering. Mike supplied the base, then Daniel began adding lights to the rows and rows of bare vines. And then some more. And a few more. A little color magic here and there and voilá! A barren hillside was transformed into an enchanted holiday wonderland.
