Tanjung Laut is a small fishing village on the south-east coast of Lombok Island. We left before dawn from Senggigi in order to arrive while the fish were fresh and the market vibrant. Our strategy was simple; Diana would talk and I would shoot. Our Bahasa Indonesia, while far from fluent, is good enough to discuss the morning catch, tell where we are from—Amerika!—and why we have come. The majority of the people on Lombok are indigenous Sasak whom practice a form of Islam. We have always found them to be very friendly, helpful, curious and kind.
